Q & A

A: Dr Ryan Unruh is trained to treat the entire family from Pregnancy to Children to Adults to Seniors.

Q: How do I choose the right Chiropractor?

A: One of the best ways to select a doctor of chiropractic (DC) is by getting a referral from a friend, family member, colleague, or another health care provider.

Q: What does my spine have to do with my health?

A: Your spinal column surrounds and protects your spinal cord, a delicate system of nerves, which control your organs, muscles, immune system, and your body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Q: Does chiropractic really work?

A: The most satisfied back pain patients are those who seek chiropractic care. We have a 92%+ satisfaction rate according to the RAND studies.

Q: What is that popping sound?

A: That’s the release of gasses in your joints. The joints of the spine are called synovial joints, and they produce a fluid called synovial fluid. Synovial fluid lubricates the joints (for movement) and nourishes them. When a joint is gapped, or opened up, the gas is released and you hear a distinctive popping sound. It’s very similar to the release of gas bubbles when you cork a champagne bottle and equally pleasant in its after effects.

Q: What are the qualifications of a chiropractor?

A: Doctors of chiropractic must first obtain a bachelors degree in a biological or medical field. Secondly, doctors of chiropractic must attend and complete the degree requirements at an accredited college. The degree for the doctorate of chiropractic consists of 4 academic years totaling over 4,000+ credit hours. Chiropractors spend years of highly specialized training in order to locate where misaligned spinal vertebra are impinging the nerves which travel down the spinal cord and out to the muscles, organs, and glands of the body.  Learning to properly and safely correct these misalignments and restore normal bodily function requires years of study and practice.

Q: Is chiropractic care safe?

A: Yes, it is very safe. Chiropractic care is, in fact, so safe that we are amongst the lowest malpractice rates in the entire healthcare industry. There are thousands of published studies proving chiropractic’s safety and effectiveness. Our specialized evaluation and  gentle treatment techniques produce optimal results without dangerous invasive procedures or highly addictive drugs.
